DiskCacheInspector (Apple Xcode sample program for OSX 10.4 Tiger)

The Apple Xcode sample program DiskCacheInspector provided for OSX 10.4 allows you to view the contents of the Safari cache.

The sample program contains a bug.

To summarize:

  1. On OSX 10.4 (Tiger), the Xcode sample program DiskCacheInspector does not run properly.
  2. You will get this error message: 'you cannot open the application "DiskCacheInspector" because it may be damaged or incomplete'.
  3. See http://lists.webkit.org/pipermail/webkit-unassigned/2006-December/025074.html. This is a bug dating back to 2006.
  4. The cause of the problem is simply that the original Info.plist file for the project incorrectly contained the string "DiskCacheInpector" (sic) for the CFBundleExecutable key instead of "DiskCacheInspector".
  5. After editing the Info.plist file, to change CFBundleExecutable from DiskCacheInpector to DiskCacheInspector as above, the sample project can be rebuilt.
  6. See http://skyprod.net/~mcook/OSX/DiskCacheInspector.Tiger.dmg for a working copy of the program including the fix as above.
  7. See http://skyprod.net/~mcook/OSX/DiskCacheInspector.README.txt for more information.

See http://forums.macrumors.com/archive/index.php/t-144681.html for the long version.
