The Microsoft System
Configuration utility (MSCONFIG) applies to all versions of Windows (TBC).
This document describes how MSCONFIG
can be used to temporarily disable services and applications:
Click START, then RUN, and
type MSCONFIG:
Click on OK to launch
MSCONFIG.
The System Configuration
Utility starts and opens at the GENERAL tab:
Select the SERVICES Tab:
Check “Hide all Microsoft
Services” to list only non-MS services:
Click on DISABLE ALL to
disable non-MS services at startup:
Disabled services will not
start after reboot.
Advance to the STARTUP
tab. This lists all applications that normally
start at boot time:
Click on DISABLE ALL to
prevent listed applications starting at boot time:
No applications will now
start when the system reboots.
